2010 Annual Meeting Gatherings & Workshops

GATHERINGS/WORKSHOPS

Quilting Congregationalists

Do we have any quilters coming north? If you are interested in setting up an informal quilt meeting for Show and Tell (pictures of a project or maybe an actual project you have brought to work on) and maybe an outing to local quilt shops you can contact one of the FCC resident quilters, Susie Coates, at d-scoates@gci.net and let her know and she will see what we can work out.

Welcome All First Timer Attendees
Saturday; 11:30am

Welcome to the Annual Meeting of the NACCC and welcome to Alaska! We know that there is much here to see and enjoy, but there is also the business of the "meeting." It is our hope that you will be active in the meeting and the various activities listed in the schedule given to you at registration. To help you in getting involved there will be an informal gathering where we will go over what you can expect and how to participate in the meetings. There will be representatives of the Leadership Team to answer your questions and any concerns you may have after looking the schedule.

Sunday; 7:00pm

Plan to take advantage of this opportunity to meet your NACCC sponsored missionaries, to renew old friendships and make new friends. Become inspired as you learn first-hand about life-changing ministries in the mission fields. You can also speak to Society members and learn more about how you and your church can become involved in missions.

Missionary Society Alumni Gathering

Sunday; 8:00pm

Former and present Missionary Society members and friends are invited to attend this gathering. We promise a time of fellowship and new ways to stay connected to NACCC missions in your church and regional association.

Congregational Foundation Donor

Appreciation Reception

Monday; 6:00pm

Please join us at our annual reception to honor all donors who support the NACCC's many programs. You can meet our President, Jim Hopkins, and other Board of Governors' members, learn about new developments in our Branching Out capital campaign and the Foundation, and enjoy some light refreshments.

DFM Reception

Sunday; 7:30pm

The Division for Ministry would like to invite all clergy and their families to join us in fellowship over the punch bowl. We would also like to invite all CFTSers (past and present) and especially our graduating seniors as our special guests. Come and get acquainted with your colleagues in ministry.

Women in Ministry Gathering

Sunday; 8:30pm

All women in ministry, clergy and lay leaders, are welcome to this gathering where we as women can find support for each other, and learn the unique ministries in which our women are engaged.  It is a joy to see so many more women in active ministry in our Association. Come and meet each other, and find some spiritual mentors along the way.

Arrive Early for a Habitat Opportunity

Thursday & Friday, June 24 & 25

There will be an opportunity for 17 people to arrive in Anchorage a few days early to work on a project with Habitat for Humanity, Anchorage on Thursday and Friday, June 24 & 25. You must be 18 or older and will stay at First Congregational Church on luxurious air mattresses Wednesday through Friday nights. Shower facilities will be provided by The Alaska Club. The group will be asked to provide their own breakfasts, but the church will provide lunch and dinner on Thursday and Friday. If this sounds like a project you'd like to be involved in, contact Host Committee Chair, Claudia Kniefel at (907) 272-8363 or fcc@gci.net.

Long Range Planning for Churches Workshop

Saturday; 10:00am

This seminar will explore the importance of Vision, Mission and Long Range Planning for churches. Led by Rev. Betsey Mauro and Mr. Jim Hopkins, the workshop will explore not only the need for such planning but also practical advice on beginning the Long Range Planning process in your church. Rev. Mauro has experience in creating long range planning opportunities in church settings. Mr. Hopkins has extensive experience as a facilitator of long range planning conversations in several NACCC churches.

Congregational Church Development (CCD) Workshop

Saturday Afternoon

The Congregational Church Development Division is pleased to present the Rev. Dr. Steve Schibsted of Bidwell Presbyterian Church, Chico, CA (brother of our own Rev. Dr. Jim Schibsted of First Congregational Church, Anaheim, CA) speaking on the subject of "The Turn-around Church."

Rev. Dr. Schibsted has served the Bidwell congregation since 1998 and guided its increase from 400 to 1400 active members (www.bidwellpres.org). Please come, be encouraged, and inspired, by their story of mainline transformation and renewal-- "Growing Deep, Growing Up, Growing Out."
